The importance of compression therapy and choosing the correct compression and product for chronic edema patients are discussed in detail. 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM Nighttime Elimination: Strategies to Promote Restorative Sleep (CEU offered) Presenter: Robyn Wilder RN, WCC The course recognizes the value of sleep to overall health and wellness of the human body. Sleep disruptions create fragmented sleep and prohibit the opportunity for restful restorative sleep. Nighttime elimination is one of the most common sleep disturbances for the elderly. In nursing home settings frequent interruptions due to bowel or bladder incontinence occur. This course was created by Empira a consortium of aging service providers in Minnesota who are committed to knowing better and doing better to advance person centered, clinical and holistic care through creation of signature programs. 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Visit the Virtual Exhibit Hall 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM Cutimed Sorbact: Innovative Technology to Manage Bacterial Bioburden Presenter: Amy Gray RN, BSN, CWS This presentation reviews DACC technology and how it differs from technologies available in other wound dressings. This presentation reviews the physiology of the venous system while explaining the pathophysiology of Venous diseases. The first step is differentiating VLUs from other lower extremity wounds, the next step is choosing the best course of treatment and products to use. 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM Visit the Virtual Exhibit Hall 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM Skin: Pressure or Moisture? Call it what it is. (CEU offered) Presenter: Fae Smith, RN-BSN, CWCN, CFCN This presentation addresses the pathophysiology of skin and its function. We will look at the underlying cause of two specific types of skin injury. Defining pressure related injuries versus moisture related injuries regarding causative factors and challenges in differentiation. The audience will learn about the 4 types of Moisture Associated Skin Damage (MASD), their causative factors, visual assessment, documentation standards, prevention strategies and interventions and treatments. In summary, identifying the cause of the injury, pressure or moisture and calling it what it is. 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM Lymphedema and Wounds Presenters: Sophia White, OTA/PTA – CLT and Bonnie Draper, RN The presentation discusses commonly observed lymphedema related wounds and Essity’s solution portfolio. This education also provides an opportunity to review the lymphatic system, role of health care professionals, wound care and interventions for both incidences. 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU) Solutions Presenter: Bonnie Draper, RN This presentation reviews how to identify a diabetic foot ulcer, common patients at risk, and complications associated with poorly managed wounds.
