Top questions about Reusable Gel Packs

Use cold therapy during the first 24-48 hours of back pain or injury to reduce inflammation and numb the area. Heat therapy is better for muscle tension or chronic pain, as it helps relax muscles and improve blood circulation to the affected area.

Apply heat or cold to your back for 15-20 minutes at a time. You can repeat this every 2-3 hours, making sure to give your skin time to rest between applications.

Yes, alternating between hot and cold therapy, known as contrast therapy, can be beneficial for certain types of pain or injuries. Cold reduces inflammation and numbs pain, while heat relaxes muscles and increases circulation. To use this method, apply cold for about 15-20 minutes, then switch to heat for the same amount of time, ensuring a break between applications to avoid skin irritation.

When dealing with muscle pain or injury, choosing between heat and cold therapy depends on the type of injury.

Use heat therapy for chronic conditions like pulled muscles, joint pain, back pain, or arthritis. Heat increases blood flow, relaxes muscles, and promotes healing.

Use cold therapy for acute injuries, such as those caused by sudden impact or falls. Cold reduces swelling, numbs pain, and limits inflammation by constricting blood vessels.

ApplicationBoth therapies should be applied for 15-20 minutes at a time. It’s important to avoid direct contact with the skin to prevent burns or frostbite.

Alternating TherapiesIn some cases, alternating between cold and heat therapy can be effective, especially for conditions that involve both acute pain and chronic stiffness.
